There were twins-Ram and Shyam with a gap of two minutes. Ram is elder by Shyam by 2 minutes; yet Shyam celebrates his birthday 2 days earlier than Ram. Why so???? Note: this has nothing to do with theory of relativity or as simple as 'uski marzi'; but a logically correct answer. Note2: The younger one celebrates his birthday BEFORE the elder one.
This has something to do with the International Date line which lies at the pacific ocean. Remember that you lose time when you move towards the west. Now as per wikipedia, the International Date Line (IDL) is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth opposite the Prime Meridian which offsets the date as one travels east or west across it. Roughly along 180° longitude, with diversions to pass around some territories and island groups, it mostly corresponds to the time zone boundary separating +12 and −12 hours GMT (UT1). Crossing the IDL traveling east results in a day or 24 hours being subtracted, and crossing west results in a day being added.
This is more than a half answer given for the ones wondering. Now those who wish not to think and read on the interesting story, the continue reading down....
It happened that on 1st march 2008 (in australia) their mother was sitting in a ship which was crossing the pacific ocean and it was going from Canberra (australia) to Sanfrancisco (West to east). At 9:59 pm, beore crossing the international date line, Ram was born. On crossing the international date line, we have to subtract one day, thus it becomes 29th Feb 2008. Two minures later ie after crossing date line at 10:01 pm Shyam was born. Thus Shyam was actually born on 29th Feb 2008, while Ram on 1st March 2008. 2008 being a leap year, and those who are born on 29th Feb celebrate their birthday on 28th Feb, we can explain why Shyam celebrates his birthday 2 days earlier than Ram.

let environmental engineering be at BAY(err's) for me!
I hate environment-related topics; and will continue hating them for now!
It all started 2 weeks ago when some good looking madam from Bayer India Ltd (some damn environmental company) came in our class with 1 of our professors; and announced whether anyone has interest in any innovative idea wrt Environmental sciences. The word INNOVATIVE arouses me and till date I am the first one who wont refrain from giving ANY innovative idea! We had to prepare an essay of some 1500 words and submit it by latest 15th sept. which relates to any environmental activity you have undertaken and plan to undertake. If your essay gets selected, you can have an opportunity to go to Germany for a free seminar for a week. She dint explain it properly to even our sir; who only focussed on 'your ideas' 'your creations' etc. A thought came in my mind; but I thought no one would even think of these things; and wont try!
On 15th sept; during the 15 min break between our exams someone called the topper girl of our class to met that sir and submit her idea. This was against my predictions and it cant happen that such a thing goes off without me submitting an idea! I overheard it and followed her later to his cabin; after crossing a dozen of doors inside. We dint had the form; and that day was the last date. Our sir; who seems very calm but too strict; was irritated with it. But still he gave us a printout. Amidst his leukamia'd round face (sorry for the wrong word) he was every time drinking water from a round-bottom flask (yeah; the one used in chem labs); two of them filled with cutting chai ka glass kept over them; I at once thought of Alladin's genie by his looks! We had ye to take sign of our HOD; who- by then it was 4:45- already left his cabin. I presumed that 1 day late will do. So also sir said the same thing.
The same day, when I returned home, I sat in front of my PC as usual; this time for 7 hours total. The topic on which I wrote with full devotion was air-purifying roads; in which I proposed some chemicals to be added to the roads. And I completed my writeup; took a printout of it the next day; and prepared full-fledged for our HOD's signature. This; it took over an hour for me; was finally done. Now the question was how to submit the idea! Any courier cant reach their office in Powai the same day. We had no contact no. of theirs. I decided it'd be better to go to Powai and submit my idea. If I personally go there, the staff would be impressed with and will forgive my late-submitting. I called them before by taking their no. from net but forgot that it was lunch-time! The day later being 2 papers from our mid-sems-the important ones-maths and fluid mech.
After having my lunch; at abt 2 pm I took a rick to stn and then waited for 1/2 n hour for a Mulund/Thane bus. 396 Ltd; which takes a longer route with 16 signals enroute. Traffic simply ROCKS in Andheri as usual. It took about 1:30 hours to reach my destination: Bayer Centre, Central Ave, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai. The area doesnt simply looks as if in India. The dome shaped buildings and each one having a different design; simply awed and marvelled me. The bayer centre, a 6 storey building; again with lots of domes and architectural decorations, was just at the centre of these. After some 6-7 security checks; I finally arrived at a room where I met a person amidst excellent-maintained interiors and pin-drop silence. He took my copy and hurray- my work was done within 5 minutes! It was 3: 45 now and I started for a return journey by another bus 392- which has a stop directly at Bayer centre. After roaming each and every street of Hiranandani, cruising through JVLR and taking a left turn for Saki-Vihar road; it haulted for >1/2 an hour in traffic- moved a bit- haulted again- and covered some 200 metres in 1 hour. All this while I completed my matrices and inverse laplace in the bus (yeah, its the reverse for me- I dont need a pen for maths; but need it for other subjects!) Later after some 1/2 an hour-the time i had a nap- it again stopped; and I decided better to walk home to reach earlier! The traffic started the moment I got off from the bus! and well- with fully drenched condition- I reached home at 6:15; wasting a whole day which was supposed to study! After trying hard to concentrate for an hour, another nightmare - guests arrived at our place- and my evening too was wasted.
Whatever little I could study was during the night and the next day- totaling some 3-4 hours for both the subjects! But the satisfaction that I am the only student of VJTI who submitted this made me propel ahead!
And to add to all this- the main news- the same good looking madam- called me in the morning the next day to say "you have not understood the idea properly: You dont have to write your own ideas, but write a report on whatever activities YOU have participated -say any drives- and attach certis of them and then write and put your own thoughts in these- and so I am putting your entry on hold!"
DAMN this environmental engg.... I worry how I can pass well in this subject now in 5th/6th sem....!!!!
PS: I havent told anyone about this in my home!
